Course Description:

February marks Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. Each year nearly 1.5 million young people experience abuse by a dating partner. While we may understand the dynamics of abusive relationships, it can be different and often very difficult for young people, especially young people in the margins. During this session we will explore how relationship abuse impacts young people from historically marginalized communities, how to approach conversations with young people who have experienced dating abuse, and what we all can do to move towards prevention.

Course Objectives:

  • Discuss how dating abuse impacts young people from marginalized communities.
  • Identify ways to engage in intervention by empowering young people to have healthy relationships and support those who have experienced relationship abuse.
