Course Description:
This presentation will go over the affect that trauma has throughout the life span of children and adolescents. We will look at how trauma affects young people academically, relationally and developmentally (both mentally and physically).


Course Objectives:
Objective 1: Gain a perspective on the different ways that trauma presents itself for children and youth who have had traumatic experiences and are struggling with traumatic stress. 

Objective 2: Attain knowledge of evidence-based approaches to assist children and families dealing with traumatic stress.


Timed Agenda:
9:00am - 9:45 am: Trauma What it is and how it could present

9:45 - 10:00 am : ACEs Early childhood and early traumatic experiences

10:00 - 10 15am : Trauma Statistics/our job as social workers and professionals. Tools and modalities for professionals                

10:15 - 10:25am : Impacts of trauma on relationships (familial, community, personal, professional/academics/ and future outcomes

10:25 am- 10:35am: Effects of trauma on the brain

10:35am - 10:45 am : Effects of trauma on the body

10:45am - 11:00am : Prevention/self-care
