Course Description:
In this training, supervisors will learn how to implement Retention Focused Supervision (RFS), a strategy designed to support, develop, and motivate
employees to enhance job satisfaction and reduce turnover. Supervisors will explore key aspects such as providing regular feedback, fostering professional development, recognizing achievements, and maintaining clear accountability. They will also learn how to address motivation, work-life balance, and stress management while adapting their supervision approach to meet individual needs. Through engaging activities, supervisors will deepen their understanding of RFS and gain practical tools to create a positive work environment, leading to a more committed, productive workforce and improved organizational retention.
Course Objectives:
1. Understand and apply the principles of motivation to supervision.
2. Understand and assess supervisory competencies in the five functions of retention-focused supervision.
3. Increase intentional use of the supervisory relationship to meet individual and organizational goals.
Time Agenda:
11:00 am-12:30 pm: Lecture on the foundation of Retention Focused Supervision, with the inclusion of activities for participants to reflect on how they can
incorporate it into current practices.
12:30 pm-1:00 pm: Review of supervisory style, types of supervision and the blending of managerial and clinical
Supervision to meet the needs of staff and the agency.
