Objectives

Be able to identify eight agreements to utilize during difficult situations
    •    Identify the ethical standards and principles of acknowledging and addressing implicit bias
    •    Be able to define bias, stereotypes, and generalizations 
    •    Describe a five-step decision-making process to address bias’ based decisions

Description

Professionals who work with individuals with different cultural and social identities are responsible for being knowledgeable about ways that their personal identities can impact their professional roles. This course will encourage participants to review and acknowledge their personal and professional values and beliefs and identify ways their bias impact their daily professional decision-making. Ethical considerations will be introduced.

Continuing Education

  • SOCIAL WORKERS: 2 continuing education credits are approved for this training. 1 credit ethics 1 credit implicit bias
  • QUALIFIED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS (QMHP): These event hours meet the MDHHS training requirement for QMHP staff.
  • CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS (CMHP): These event hours meet the MDHHS training requirement for CMHP staff.
  • QUALIFIED INTELLECTUAL DISABILATY PROFESSIONALS (QIDP): These event hours meet the MDHHS training requirement for QIDP staff.
  • TRAINING HOURS: This event will count toward the annual training hours required by most provider agencies.

Registration Fees

If you work OUTSIDE of Wayne County there is a nominal $15.00 registration fee to attend this training. Please pay prior to your arrival by entering your credit card information when the registration process asks for it. You may also bring a company check or money order for the full amount with you to the registration table at the event as well. All checks/money orders can be made out to ‘DWIHN’. Receipts will be available upon request.
