Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and
Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for Depression
(6.0 CE Hours)
This course is focused on the application of CBT, especially in the treatment of depression. The training teaches the cognitive model of depression and the interaction with biogenic and hereditary factors. It describes the steps for individual case formulation as the foundation of treatment, including the understanding of the clinical syndrome of depression, conducting a meaningful assessment, formulating treatment plans and developing a structure for therapy sessions. The training brings in recent research regarding the use of cognitive theory and cognitive behavioral therapy in treating severe mental illness and discusses the application of CBT with wider age ranges and ethnic minorities. The use of evaluative instruments to monitor and evaluate effectiveness of treatment progress is also addressed. (Case studies are utilized to highlight the learning experience.)
