After the Violence:  Lessons Learned from Sandy Hook Elementary

Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 - 8:30 am to 3:45 pm

MISD Education Center,

44001 Garfield Road, Clinton Township, MI

This special presentation provides MI SB CEUs and is also approved by APA, NBCC, MI SW CEC and OHIO Counselor and Social Work Board.

There are many lessons to be learned as staff from Newtown Schools and community professionals share their stories of the terror they faced on December 14, 2012 and the challenges in the months that followed. Their stories will help us appreciate what matters most in the immediate and long term recovery of survivors exposed to such unimaginable loss of life - the children, their teachers, the families, the first responders and the community.

We hope you can attend to offer your support for the amazing resilience of our presenters from Newtown and their willingness to share their personal and professional reactions to all they have been exposed to in the aftermath of that horrific day.

All attendees will receive "Critical Considerations: Recovery Interventions Following Traumatic Incidents" by William Steele, a $30 value. Written in 2013, this book contains 20 critical considerations that detail the challenges and needs trauma survivors face created by the nature of their experiences.

Light buffet lunch included.  CE's included.
